It’s easy to visit this volcano from the City of San José through paths that go directly to the summit and the craters. If you’re lucky enough and go on a clear day, you can see the two coasts of Costa Rica: the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific.

It’s one of the most popular destinations.
  • Turrialba volcano. It’s the second-highest volcano in Costa Rica at 10,958 feet high and one of the most active. At the base of this volcano is the most important archaeological site in Costa Rica, the Guayabo National Monument, which dates back to pre-Columbian times.
